Flat-Coated Retrievers
I have been in love with the Doberman breed since childhood. My parents bred and exhibited their Dobes in obedience trials, and it all started there. Their intelligence and loyalty, combined with their elegance and regal stature are, in my opinion, unrivaled in the dog world. The Flat-Coats came along in 2003 when I was trying to locate a quality one for a friend. I went to meet with the breeder, "just to see", and ended up coming home with one myself! I was so impressed with what an intelligent and good natured breed they are.
One thing I should stress is that even though we own the kennel, all of my dogs are house dogs. They all take turns spending the day with me out in the office/grooming room, for socialization and to get their "quality time with Mom" in. Neither Dobes or Flat-Coats do well as kennel, or outside dogs. They are two breeds that need to be near their families, sharing in the day to day activities of a home. They thrive on obedience training and agility because it gives them something to do. Their intelligence causes them to become easily bored, so the more you can do with them, the happier they are.
As a breeder, I feel it is important that puppies are well socialized from birth. That is why my litters are whelped and raised in my family room, where they can see and hear everything that goes on. A breeding is only done after all health testing has been done on both sire and dam.
At Bay Creek, breeding the complete Doberman or Flat-Coat Retriever is most important. We are striving to combine beauty, brains and health in each litter. I want our puppy buyers to know the joy of having a healthy, loving, intelligent companion for the life of their dog.
